Shooting a two camera interview requires both images to match aesthetically. Due to budget constraints, we were unable to bring in a second Arri Alexa LF Mini as the interview's B Cam. Instead, I chose to use the more affordable Panasonic VariCam LT. While not nearly as popular as the LF, the LT performed incredibly well on set as well as in the DI.
The client was wanting a docu-style feel with a little bit of Hollywood quality. My interpretation of that request is best explained in this image. To achieve the doc style, I lit this scene to resemble lighting qualities of an actual Recovery Room: multiple color temperatures and hard lighting, to name a couple. Dr. Rhett's OR was filled with some very fascinating surgical technology. This Mako Robotic Arm is a very important tool and so I tried to photograph it in a way that would characterize instead of trivialize it.
